We got a call from our clients to quote for the installation only as they already had a design produced by another company. Although the design concept was great, changes were made to the original design which lacked some practicalities. For example, there was a lawn area that was too small for a mower to access and alterations were also made to border sizes and some materials which resulted in an improved flow of the garden. We also produced a full planting plan as this hadn’t been provided originally

The garden was a complete blank canvas when we arrived which always makes for a stunning end result. Our tree surgeons removed the majority of the trees and shrubs to clear the garden which had a ‘wow’ result before we even started.

Once the reduce dig works had finished, we commenced laying out the areas for the paving and the pathways. Paving from London Stone was a 1200 x 600mm slab which looked fabulous with the house. We laid the rear patio on the 45-degree angle to add interest and flow to the area. The pathways were edged with grey metal edging and stabilising grids for the gravel were all supplied by CoreLP.

For areas of interest and practicality a vegetable garden was built with raised borders for planting and a stunning bespoke built arch at the entrance. A concrete base for a greenhouse was created and laid with the same gravel used on the pathways. A further concrete base was added at the rear of the property; both greenhouse and shed are to be installed at a later date.

Nearer the house, a 4m x 3m pergola from (white stores) was installed, over a fabulous jacuzzi hot-tub, which had to be craned over the house.

For the borders, we planted lots of beautiful shrubs such as Philadelphus, Ceanothus, Acers and Rhododendrons. Gorgeous trees were also added to give this spacious garden even more of a parkland feel. Included are: Liquidamber styraciflua, Catalpa bignonioides, Fagas Sylvatica and lots of fruit trees.

The feature quadrant border, to the rear of the garden, houses four Portuguese laurels half standard trees along with a low Euonymous 'green rocket' hedge. Colourful perennials such as Agapanthus, Gaura, Verbena, Salvia, Heuchera, Geranium, Digitalis and Nepeta will fill the borders with colour during the summer months along with the planting of 200 Alliums and Rhododendrons providing the early season interest.

The lighting scheme, incorporating bollard lights and uplighters, exquisitely elevates the look and feel of this garden as dusk falls. A magical radiance is produced along the pathways and the main and quadrant borders receive a dazzling glow.
